Slavery's Legacy for Law Enforcement
A Primer on the Past, Insight into Today, and Guidance on Improving our Future.
Course Overview
Abolished by the 13th Amendment to the Constitution in 1865, Slavery’s legacy continues to impact the United States and “race” relations for US law enforcement. Recent events from Baltimore, to Chicago, to Ferguson, to Los Angeles highlight how law enforcement continues to struggle with race, and how little direction is provided to them to actually improve relations. This course provides a historical primer on how we got here, insight into where we are going, and guidance on how we can improve our future.
