A New Vision for Law Enforcement and Social Media

Social_MediaSocial media is a powerful and prolific communication medium among the public, replacing traditional forms like television and print. The Department’s desire to communicate with the public is part of the charter of Law Enforcement. Therefore, utilizing technology (i.e., Social Media) is critical for the Department to maintain effective communication with the public. To be effective, Social Media requires collective participation.

Andy Green

Mr. Green launched the social media program at his agency in 2012.  He is an advocate of using social media to improve relationships between law enforcement and the public.  He has consulted with numerous agencies to improve their social media presence and is often called upon as a speaker and consultant regarding social media and law enforcement.  He has helped agencies across the United States with policy development regarding social media.

Chad Smith

Chad Smith, Instructor

Chad Smith is a 14 law enforcement veteran who began his career in Colorado.  His initial duties included patrol, crime scene investigations and crisis intervention.  He has been widely active in crime prevention at the state level and has implemented both technical and training related projects statewide.

Currently Chad is the Police Technology Liaison for a medium sized agency responsible for research, planning, implementation of various technologies for his department. He is also responsible for training and administration of those technologies.
