Discuss and Identify Criminal Offenses Associated with the Dark Web
Course Overview
While most of the public is accustomed to Google and common social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter, Law Enforcement officials are interested in a side of the Internet that criminals are increasingly turning to: the dark web. Here, subjects are involved in hacking, file corruption, trafficking, counterfeit software, and the exchange of restricted goods.
Students who take this course will learn how to comprehend each level of the web, from the surface (Google) down to the "deep" or "dark" sections. The course also uncovers the criminal offenses and investigative techniques often associated with the dark web.
Who Should Attend
This class is designed for any investigator or detective. No technical background is required.

David Ferris
David Ferris has been a law enforcement officer for 19 years. He has specialized in cybercrimes and technology facilitated child exploitation for the last 15 years. He currently serves as a supervisory special agent with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Cyber Crime Unit. He has also been appointed as the Commander of the Louisiana Internet Crimes against Children Task Force. He has conducted thousands of hours of instruction and investigation in online undercover operations. He has trained local, state, and federal law enforcement officers to conduct online investigation in the areas of online solicitation, human trafficking and advance Peer to Peer Networks. David has received a Bachelors of Art in Psychology from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa. He is a United States Marine Corps veteran having served in Iraq. He has been certified as an expert in Undercover Peer to Peer investigations, Cybercrimes, and Child exploitation in numerous courts and boards throughout the state of Louisiana.
